ABOUT HUSSA

After graduating from Riyadh School, Princess Hussa obtained her bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from King Saud University, Riyadh, in 1997.  Princess Hussa continued to her first Master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies and International Law at Westminster University in London, graduating in 2001.  Princess Hussa's thesis was on Saudi Arabia's Approach to the Issue of Human Rights, with Reference to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

Princess Hussa extended her knowledge and interest in human rights, with a second master's degree, in human rights law, at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, in 2011.  Her studies included Islamic law and her thesis on Weiquan Lawyers in China was published in the Asia-Pacific Journal on Human Rights and the Law.


Princess Hussa has a keen interest in Arabic literature and previously supported this sector by hosting literary sessions at the King Salman Social Center.  Princess Hussa's interests in literature, art criticism, philosophy and history, led her to attend various short courses at Oxford and London universities.
 

Princess Hussa has dedicated her position, skills and network to contributing to the advancement of Saudi women, since she was at Riyadh School.  She is committed to encouraging education and skill-building, supporting initiatives for the protection and empowerment of women and children, and facilitating artistic and creative expression.
